Hello Cesár, thank you very much for let us talk with you and speak a little more about your history and your participation in Eurovision, let’s begin…
Musically speaking… who is Cesár Sampson?

Someone who is in constant metamorphosis and about to exit cocoon stage 😉 hoping for a butterfly effect 🙂

If you could define yourself with three emotions, what would they be?
I couldn´t describe myself with emotions, I can barely describe myself with the entire english language:) right now I am calm, driven, loving.

Since you were 17 you are in the world of music, you have worked as a composer, producer, dancer. What have you learned through all these years of experience?
Correction, I have never worked as a dancer, even though you can say I am a dancer at heart:)
I learned most lessons through my work with other living beings, my growing capacity to empathize has given my talents a direction and a focus.

What do you passionate and scared about the music industry?
I am no longer scared of the industry aspect of making music, I do things for my own weird reasons and I feel great doing it. I feel up to the task of maintaining my integrity despite maneuvering within an industry.

In addition to being a musician, you worked as a physiotherapist working with people with disabilities. Why did you decide to make a stop in music and dedicate yourself to social work and then come to music again?
As mentioned above , I needed a direction to my creative endeavors, and this work did that for me. Empathy is what ignites my creativity.

How was the way for your internal election as a representative of Austria?
The decision makers in austria invited me to submit a song, I did, and my song prevailed in a pretty strong field of submissions – ergo I am here now:)

You are not new to the Eurovision world, you were a backup singer for Poli Genova and Kristian Kostov. How did you live these experiences?
My main function there was as an on-site extension of the Symphonics production team.
Singing back up was a lot of fun and a good opportunity for observing the behind the scenes workings of this huge broadcasting event.

What did you learn in Stockholm and Kiev?
That 200 million people outthere are yearning for not only fun and entertainment, but actual artistry. They want to be touched inside.

Do you feel that these previous experiences prepared you to be the protagonist this year?
Absolutely.

What is the story behind “Nobody but you“?
Sebastian Arman and me started writing this song in early 2017 on a grand piano and an acoustic guitar, then one after the other 3 members of Symphonics, all contributed with their specialties until “Nobody But You” emerged.

What expectations do you have with your participation in Eurovision?
I don´t think much of expectations. I will do my best to do a good job, be myself and then we will find out together, what is meant to be.

What will be the contribution from the ESC experience to you musical career?
Only time can tell:)

Eurovision is a festival followed by hundreds of eurofans in the countries of Latin America. Did you know this?
I am aware that people all over the world are passionate about the ESC! I don´t know how large of community it is, but I know it exists!

Do you have any musical reference or influence from Latin America?
My percussion teacher was a brazilian and he has taken me along to perform at his samba concerts,
just for a solo or two in the grand finale:) That is probably my most vivid memory of being influenced by latin america.

Would you like to visit our countries later? “We are sure that with our Latin rhythms you will dance like never before”
I would LOVE to.

Finally, a message for our readers…
I will be very happy if I reach some or any of you with my music! See you in Portugal!
