They became a phenomenon of the Internet with the “Epic Sax Guy” after representing Moldova in Eurovision 2010… it is 2017 and the memory of their first performance in that stage is still very strong, the reactions of satisfaction by their return could not wait, this is the interview that they granted us:

ORLA: How did you start? Tell us about the origins of SunStroke Project
SunStroke Project (SSP): Well, Sunstroke Project is a unique musical project of Moldova is known for the unusual mix of lyrical violin, jazz saxophone and magic vocal. The team was created in 2008, but it works in the final composition as of November 2009.

In 2010, we represented Moldavia at ESC in Oslo, Norway and in 2011 we participated in WCOPA (World Championship of Performing Arts) we won 13 gold medals and became the best vocal-instrumental project in the world. These days we are finishing our second album and we prepare to represent Moldova in the ESC 2017.

The personalities of each member are very different but they fit perfectly: ”Anton Ragoza is an engine and the initiator of everything that happens between us. Lalovitski Serghey is the soul and leader of the collective and, the Epic Sax Guy – is a buffer zone between us that helps to find a common language.”

Concerning about the title and lyrics of their song in this 2017, they assure us that they do not consider themselves “mama’s boys” because, they have a very independent life from an early age.

ORLA: How did the idea come to be in “O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017”?
SSP: Well, three years in a row we did not make it to the final, as experienced participants this year, we are going to represent Moldova in the hope of returning its former glory.

ORLA: You have been involved several times with the local process for Eurovision, what has been the contribution of all these experiences to your career?

SSP: Due to all our attempts to participate in Eurovision, we became really experienced and mature, now we know all the nuances and secrets of this competition. Of course, after the participation in 2010 we became better known, especially the ” Epic Sax Guy ”, we can say that we only got benefits.

For them, the victory at the ” O Melodie Pentru Europa ” of 2010 is very different from that of 2017: ” in 2010 it helped us realize that we were ” full ” actors not only in our country, But also abroad, in 2017 we already feel like more skillful participants, became a business for our lives therefore, we hope that Eurovision will bring us even more tours, concerts and the sea of positive things.”

Responsibility and honor is the meaning of representing Moldova before Europe and the world.
“In our country, Eurovision is a very popular competition, and the person who has partic
ipated in it representing the country, becomes not only popular, but also favorite artiste for a long time, to participate twice is a great luck. The most memorable musical composition of our country is that of Zdob Si Zdub – Boonika Bate Toba
(2005).”

ORLA: Was Eurovision always a goal to meet or just came without asking?
SSP: When we finished the second album, having heard one of the singles, now known as ” Hey Mamma ”, we understood that it was ideal for Eurovision because there is everything in it.

ORLA: What do you think will be the biggest Eurovision contribution to the band?
SSP: Millions of musicians are launching new compositions every day around the world, but unfortunately under the conditions of competition on the Internet and the media, it is very difficult to bring the musical material to the consumer. Contribution – our song will be heard by at least 200,000,000 people. We did not know that in Latin America there are so many Eurovision fans, the news that there are hundreds and thousands of Eurofans made us really happy.

ORLA: Have you been in some of our countries?
SSP: Frankly speaking, none of us have ever thought about being in Latin America, but our vocalist, he works on a transatlantic, then once stopped in Chile and Brazil and told us how beautiful and picturesque he is, so we hope we get it right To visit and give concerts there. With great pleasure we will arrive and act.

ORLA: A final message for our readers in Latin America and beyond.
SSP: Dear Latin American fans, let’s be happy, live happily, love Eurovision and listen to our songs.
